Beet, Drink, and Be Married at Goebbert's Farm
by Emily Zoellick on 06/21/2018
If you thought all the action happened at Goebbert’s Pumpkin Patch during, well, pumpkin season, you are missing out! It’s a busy time of year for us here, and we have a lot of exciting plans that we are working on and getting ready right now. We thought we’d give you a little “behind the scenes” info on all the action that’s taking place this summer…at the pumpkin patch!
If you’re craving sweet corn, rest assured- our crops are mostly planted and that includes Goebbert’s beloved home grown sweet corn. Before you know it, you’ll be stopping by the Farmstand off of Route 47 to grab a few ears. Slice up some fresh tomatoes, add a sprinkle of salt and dinner is served! Summertime tastes so good! We will be determining the opening date for our Farmstand soon- we just need to dry out a little bit first.
Corn isn’t the only crop that’s thriving right now. Over 100 acres of beets are planted, including the field right by our Reinking Road entrance. The pumpkins are popping up already, and our 2018 corn maze design is freshly cut. Last year our corn maze had our iconic Happy Jack silo and apples as a nod to our first year with an apple orchard. Stay tuned for the big reveal of 2018’s corn maze!
Speaking of Happy Jack, did you know that’s the name of our silo pumpkin? Happy Jack is probably going to get a paint job before we open, just to “freshen up” a bit. Happy Jack is also the proud mascot for our first ever “Happy Jack Hustle 5K and Fun Run.” Or fun walk! Whichever you prefer but it will be fun! Consider joining us on September 2nd to run or walk through our Fall Festival and Orchard to kick off our season in family-fun fashion. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to The Salvation Army and we think this is a super fun way to start the season and give back to the community all at the same time. Run over to happyjackhustle.com for all the details. There’s still time to get early bird registration prices!
Curious about being married at Goebbert’s Pumpkin Patch? Here at our Pingree Grove location, we’re currently working with several brides and grooms to plan their big days right here at our beautiful farm. Everyone loves a wedding, and everyone really loves a wedding with apple cider donuts! No blog post would be complete without mentioning donuts! We’d love to make donuts for your event here at the farm! We have spaces for any size group, any occasion- company picnics are a popular one. Our barn is a beautiful event space and perfect for birthday parties, wedding and baby showers, receptions, etc. Let us provide the fun and consider hosting an event here this Fall!
If you’ve been following us on Facebook, you already know about one other BIG event we’re working on- Goebbert’s Winter Wonderland brought to you by Larsen’s Light Show…yes…THAT light show! We’re all familiar with Brian Larsen’s epic light shows at his home in Elburn, and many of us enjoy the tradition of heading to his show each Christmas. This year, Brian’s taking his show on the road to our Farm, and we cannot wait to see you at the pumpkin patch…in the winter!
We’ll leave you with a pic of something new we are working on for the 2018 Season. We pride ourselves on always having something new- and we promise that our guests will not be disappointed. Start guessing what these are for…and find out when we open for Fall Festival on August 31st.
